“One of the top ten places for kite-flying in the northeast. Entertaining kites, even if you don't want to fly one yourself.”

Lighthouse
“Absolutely breathtaking. Built in 1856 it is the premier lighthouse in Rhode Island. The light provides navigation for boats and ships entering Narragansett Bay in the East Passage between Conanicut Island and Newport. ”

“During its years of active service, Fort Adams housed generations of soldiers. Now the Fort is open to tours, and offers spectacular views of the bay and a wealth of history for enthusiasts. Bay Walks begin at the Fort and take visitors along the picturesque East Passage of Narragansett Bay with unobstructed views of the sun setting over Conanicut Island or to the east side of the bay, overlooking Newport Harbor and the downtown waterfront as well as picturesque Brenton Cove – one of the area’s most popular anchorages.”

“A beautiful state park right on the water, with huge rocks for climbing and coves for exploring and swimming (be mindful of the tides!). There are trails filled with bunnies, a lighthouse and a tiny aquarium that never seems to be open.”

“Another great beach for little kids; across the way in Newport, beautiful rocks, smaller beach but fun to explore. Fills up quickly!”

Surf Spot
“The public part of Bailey's Beach is right where the Cliff Walk ends. I like this beach because it is often secluded and the water is cleaner that the main beaches. Most of the beach is privately held and roped off, but the public part is perfect for a quiet time at the beach.”

“Make certain to have a guided tour. Otherwise it is simply walls. But the tour explains the design and strategic significance of the fort and of Newport. ”
