“The Olympic Park is a sporting complex in Stratford. It was built for the 2012 Summer Olympics and the Paralympics. It contains the athletes' Olympic Village and several of the sporting venues including the London Stadium and London Aquatics Centre, besides the London Olympics Media Centre. The park is overlooked by the ArcelorMittal Orbit, an observation tower and Britain's largest piece of public art. Top things to do there: Go to the top of the ArcelorMittal Orbit for great views across London. Whizz down the slide that goes from the top of the ArcelorMittal Orbit. Take one of the free trail guides. Take kids swimming at the Aquatics Centre Cycle at Lee Valley VeloPark on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Between March and October run through the fountains next to the Orbit. Take a boat tour along the canal Watch West Ham play at the Go shopping at Westfield Stratford City ”

“Formerly the grounds of a 17th-century aristocrat's manor house and open to the public only since 1952, Holland Park is an often-overlooked gem in the heart of London. The northern "Wilderness" end offers woodland walks among native and exotic trees first planted in the early 18th century. Foxes, rabbits, and hedgehogs are among the residents. The central part of the park is given over to the manicured lawns—still stalked by raucous peacocks—one would expect at a stately home, although Holland House itself, originally built by James I's chancellor and later the site of a 19th-century salon frequented by Byron, Dickens, and Disraeli, was largely destroyed by German bombs in 1940. The east wing was reconstructed and has been incorporated into a youth hostel, while the remains of the front terrace provide an atmospheric backdrop for the open-air performances of the April–September Holland Park Opera Festival ”

“This park is one of a kind. It's actually a Victorian cemetery, but don't let that turn you off. It's so worth visiting. Unlike anything you've ever seen. And guess what, I happened to recognize it in Amy Winehouse's video for "Back to Black"... how's that for local lore? Make sure to make it to the abandoned chapel in the middle! And then watch the video just for fun.”

Forest
“This is a great wood connecting Sydenham with Dulwich, where you can continue your run if you like. If not, make sure you have waterproof shoes on as the paths can stay muddy after rainy days (Distance: 2.4km uphill and a great downhill on your way back)”

“This is a beautiful place to go for a walk in the woods. Dulwich Wood, together with the adjacent Sydenham Hill Wood, is the largest extant part of the ancient Great North Wood in the London Borough of Southwark. Easy to get to the entrance to the wood (bottom of Cox's Walk) on buses 176 and 185 from Champion Hill bus stop heading South (15mins by bus). Or it's a 20-25minute walk to the entrance of the wood from the flat, via Dulwich Park.”
