We'll experience the original royal english tea with the traditional accoutrements. In the gardens of Kensington Palace, where Harry and Meghan live. The tradition of English tea, once a mark of sophistication and aristocratic bearing, is now so popular that everyone has developed their own version of it to suit every occasion. We'll do a royal culinary tour to meet the Portuguese Queen who gave the British their national drink and see how it developed into a "cuppa". We'll discover the class wars it started in Britain and the Opium wars it started in China, not to mention its role in the American independence... We end with a walk in the gardens designed for royal guests - just like us!
*Update* I have adapted this tour to be safe for families wishing to visit London and enjoy the great outdoors, post-lockdown. Bicycles will be cleaned with antibacterial wipes before/after each tour. I will maintain a 2m distance at all times, and let parents decide if they wish for their children to receive a snack and prize. At this time, playgrounds are open but unfortunately we can't visit the Diana Memorial. ----- This tour is designed especially with kids in mind – so some London history will be brought to life through animated stories, stickers, playgrounds, and fun! Our ride will start by Kensington Palace, where we'll hear about kings and queens, as well as a strange story about a wild boy that once lived in the palace! We'll cycle through Kensington Gardens and learn the origin of the story of Peter Pan and Captain Hook. I will guide our group through the parks, cycling at a leisurely pace and hearing stories about its history. We'll stop to feed the ducks at the Serpertine, and also visit the wonderful Diana Memorial Fountain to stop for a snack and splash your feet! I'll then take you to the famous Elfin Oak and to one of London's biggest playgrounds, which is inspired by the tale of Peter Pan. Here, our tour concludes so you can stay and play as long as you wish. Each child will receive a small prize to congratulate them for cycling in two royal parks
It is not a tour where you are lectured on dates, facts and figures and how a building is so many sq feet. Not this tour. This is about fun, bringing Notting Hill to life, you are going to see where celebrities live, work and play, you will see film locations, famous music locations, you are going to see tales of murder & ghostly spirits, you will see an original Banksy artwork, you will see the history, the stories, the buzz of Notting Hill. For what is contained in the square mile of Notting Hill is one of the richest cultural locations in the World. Let me bring it to life for you.
Doom & Gloom in London’s Royal Parks
When you think of London’s Royal Parks, palaces and manicured lawns may spring to mind. But the parks are full of more sinister sights and stories to be told! Our first stop is Kensington Palace, where we'll hear some history of this place that has been plagued in years past by untimely deaths, strange sightings, mourning and despair. I'll then take you to a secret hidden pet cemetery. While not open to the public, as we peer through the railing you can decide if you agree with George Orwell, who described this as “perhaps the most horrible spectacle in Britain”. Our tour continues to the Peter Pan statue, celebrating the famous children's book set in Kensington Gardens. Unbeknownst to most is the story behind this beloved classic. We'll hear about the strange curse that followed the author's family, and the boys the story was based on. We'll then visit the Serpentine Bridge, a site with a beautiful view, but seeped in gloom. Here, many tragic incidence have occurred, some connected to important literary figures. Our tour concludes at Speakers Corner, the symbolic centre of free speech. But most people miss the site of the Tyburn 'hanging' Tree - where 50,000 public executions took place. After 2 hours of woebegone tales, we'll partake in a quick toast to commemorate the stories of those the park left behind. Better fortune befalls those who leave our park tour today!
I see beauty in everyone and everything! I also look for colours, geometry, aesthetics and best light to capture beautiful pictures. I plan to take you to my favourite hot spot locations around London (London Bridge, Hyde Park, Southwark, Piccadilly, Tower Bridge, etc.) It would be a relaxing stroll - snapping your pictures. I love to shoot aesthetically beautiful portraits so I'll help you find natural and right poses to capture your best looks and I will make sure you have great pictures to take home a unique souvenir of your time in London! (Our route may change depending on the weather and lighting conditions.) Group size is a maximum of 4 to keep this experience personal as possible. Perfect for solo travelers or couples . Afterwards, we could sit down and have coffee in one of the best coffee shops in the city and I could share my favourite things to do and places to go/to do/ to eat in this city. Like view points, cool cafes/bars or some super local places to go for food. After our tour I'll send you up to edited photos by email.
In this walk, I will take you back in time to the year of the Great Exhibition of 1851, where I will recount the story of this monumental event, re-enacting a day in the life of Victorian Londoners. We will stroll along the site of the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park - bringing it back to life, talking about the exhibits and the technological and artistic marvels of the time. Then we'll make our way towards Buckingham Palace - talking about the politics, class, social mores and urbanism of Victorian times. We will mentally draw an imaginary picture of London as the much different city it was, at the center of a much different world, and to do so, we will attempt to strip our surroundings from the sensory stimuli of modern times - some more obvious, and some others less ! We will then enter the famous Wellington Arch, and enjoy a unique view of London from its viewing platform ! Afterwards, we'll be making our way toward London's famous Clubland along Pall Mall, where we'll talk about the the Gentlemen's Clubs, a uniquely British institution shrouded in relative mystery to this day - and we will catch a glimpse of their opulence and magnificence while relating their fascinating history. Expect a casual, no-rush stroll, with plenty of history & interesting facts, stories and anecdotes to go with it !
