Bird's Delight is a private sunny room with your own entrance from our peaceful garden with lots of trees and birds. You also have your own bathroom, shower and toilet. Bird's Delight is a perfect place to relax and rest while exploring the Abel Tasman Nationalpark, the Great Taste Cycle Trail or the Nelson Lakes Nationalpark.

Our house is a lovely timber house surrounded by native plants and birds. This gives the property a very nice cosy feeling and lots of privacy. It is located in a quiet neighborhood (cul-de-sac) and it's only a few minutes away from great walking and mountain bike tracks in the Richmond Hills and not far from the Richmond town centre.
Bird's Delight is a newly renovated private room looking into our garden with a comfortable queen bed and private entrance. There is a separate bathroom and toilet down the hallway which will be yours whilst you are our guests. There are tea and coffee making facilities in your room. Guests have got their own fridge to use. Otherwise our guests are welcome to share the house with us - we like you to feel that Bird's Delight is home away from home.
Please be aware we have a German Shorthaired Pointer dog living with us, so if you are allergic or dislike dogs then this is probably not the ideal place for you. But if you like dogs, this is a wonderful place for bringing your own dog or enjoy petting and playing with our one. Tika is very friendly and welcomes everybody with a warm open heart and a wagging tail.
We live in our beautiful house since we came to New Zealand 14 years ago after biking around the country for almost a year. Now we have got two young children age 9 and 11 with whom we bike shorter distances :-) We love biking and think that our location is just wonderful to explore the area by bike (by car too of course). Richmond Hills are covered with Mountain Bike Trails and the Great Taste Cycle Trail is not far away either. Richmond is also a great location to explore the Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakes, beautiful beaches, vineyards, micro breweries, arts and crafts.

You have full access to the kitchen and main living area, including a kitchen dining, sun terrace/decks for outdoor breakfast/dining. There is free coffee and tea for you to enjoy.
There is a BBQ area in the garden and an outdoor fireplace for cosy evenings under the stars.
With two children living here, we have some playground equipment in the garden - a monkey bar, trampoline and swinging rope. You are most welcome to use all this, either as the child in you or having your own children. Children are welcome, but have to sleep on mattresses beside your bed for an additional charge.
The house has steps so may not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties.

It's a quiet, safe and friendly neighborhood with stunning bush walks close by. The room is very quiet with no traffic noise - instead you hear Tuis and Bellbirds during daytime and sometimes moreporks at night.

After traveling around the world by bike and boat, I finally settled in Nelson with my partner Stefan. We moved from Germany to New Zealand in 2006 and love it ever since. We are both freelance designers and have two daughters, age 9 and 11. We all love the outdoors with sailing, kayaking, cycling, tramping. It is always a wonderful experience to meet open hearted and friendly people during traveling. Our aim for all our guests is: have a fabulous time staying with us and feel very welcome :-)
