Hello, my family and my friends. I am Richardson Etsitty. I am born for the Black Streak Wood people clan and Rock Gap Clan from my father. My grandfather's, my mother's father, clan is Deer Spring and my Nali's, my father's mother, clan is The Towering House people. I reside in Lechee, Arizona, thank you and I am very grateful.
I've lived on the Navajo reservation my entire life, without electricity and running water. I grew up exploring the canyons in my backyard with my siblings, hiking, herding livestock and finding new places to fill our time. There was never a worry from our parents as we were always close by, the land around us took care of us as we roamed free. As I grew up, I appreciated the beauty of the surrounding area. The infamous Antelope Canyon was less than a mile away and provided me with my first job when I was only 8 years old as a tour guide. I appreciated the natural beauty of the canyon and the stories it told and was able to share that with guests from around the world. Working in the canyon for many years helped me develop my passion for photography and sharing the story of my native people.
As I build this company, my guest's experiences are my number one priority. The Hogan has not only given us a place to call home but an opportunity to continue to better ourselves every time we step into one. We sleep in the security of ourselves and our ancestors and we wake in harmony and peace. I wish the same healing on others as I have experienced myself.
My hope for the future is a better understanding of where the Navajo people come from. A hope of acceptance of all cultures, to understand the background of the person standing next to me in a crowded room. I hope to share this with everyone, experience this for yourself.
