Enjoy a new quiet modern self-catering 2 person ensuite ecopod in Glentruim, Laggan, near Newtonmore in Monarch of the Glen Country and the Cairngorms National Park. Within 10 mins of Cycle Route 7, A9, A86 and A889. A rural setting with hens and ducks wandering about and wild life all around. The ecopod is in a quiet corner of our small holding, 30m from the end of our cottage, in lovely beech trees, home to red squirrels and with fast Wifi, Netflex & movies. You can see the stars at night.
お部屋
We built the ecopod in 2019 in an idyllic spot at the end of a private track. We are 500m off the East Highland Way Glentruim option for walking from Laggan to Newtonmore. National Cycle Route 7 runs beside the A9 just 1 mile from the cottage. We are 4 miles south of Newtonmore, 20 miles from Aviemore, midway between the Cairngorm and the Nevis Range ski areas and 7 miles from the Wolftrax Mountainbike Centre.
Inverness, Fort William and Perth are about an hour's drive.
The ecopod is ideally located for the scenic areas, heritage and history, and outdoor activities in the Cairngorms National Park for all ages (see visitcairngorms.com). For wonderful photos of places in our community visit 'pics' in laggan.com The Highland Folk Museum (free entry, donations welcome) and Highland Wildlife Park (with 4 polar bears) are close by. As we are located in the geographic centre of the Scottish mainland we are ideally placed for touring further afield.
More information
Please note, due to a horrendous experience, we NEVER accept pets so please don't ask, no matter how well trained you judge yours to be. If you have a registered Assistance Dog trained not to chase birds and animals you are very welcome. Please check with us with before booking to ensure we can meet the needs of you and your dog. If you are allergic to dogs please check with us to make sure we have not had an Assistance Dog to stay.
The kitchen area has a microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. Outside is a gas BBQ with a grill and hob. We provide dishes, cutlery, utensils and a modest selection of pans for use on the BBQ. We provide a selection of teas, coffees and biscuits for when you arrive.
We provide bedding for the double bed by way of 2 single duvets for individual comfort. There are towels, soap, toilet paper and a heated towel rail In the ensuite toilet/shower room.
The space
During your visit, you are likely to see red squirrels, deer, birds of prey, and numerous other birds in the vicinity. If you are exceptionally lucky, you may even catch sight of the elusive and highly endangered Scottish Wildcat, osprey and golden eagles. Hens and ducks roam free round the garden.
We are 200 metres from the river Spey where you can go fishing with a locally bought permit. The ecopod is the perfect location to experience outdoor sporting activities such as skiing, sailing, hillwalking, climbing, and mountain biking. The area is also full of heritage and history.
Please ask if you want to put a wash in our machine in the cottage.
There is ample parking and you can put your bicycles in our stable overnight.
Interaction with guests
We'll be delighted to answer any questions you may have about the area or offer advice on places to go.
