This second-floor studio features modern amenities and historical touches befitting the unique spirit of Roland Sardeson, the beloved Mineral Point stonemason and potter who bequeathed his building to Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts in 2016. The recently renovated loft features a queen-sized bed, bathroom with shower, writing desk, kitchenette, and lovely views of downtown. When you're ready to explore, the creative community and bucolic nature of Mineral Point await right outside your door.

Roland's Loft is the top floor of The Sardeson at Shake Rag Alley. Lovingly decorated to honor the creative spirit of Roland himself, guests can enjoy unique touches including the writing desk made of refurbished Mineral Point Opera House floorboards and kitchen and bathroom ceramic prairie tiles made by nationally known muralist Bruce Howdle. The loft is the perfect getaway for guests traveling for work and/or play.

Located in the historic downtown arts district, Roland's Loft at The Sardeson is in part of the former Globe Hotel, built in 1877. Mineral Point was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, the first Wisconsin city to receive that designation. The neighborhood is representative of Mineral Point's dedication to historic preservation, arts and culture, and entrepreneurship. There are plenty of places for shopping, dining, and adventuring. Within walking distance are Pendarvis — the Wisconsin Historic Site featuring a series of early 19th-century cottages built by Cornish immigrants — and Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts, our magical campus of historic buildings and lush gardens that serve as classrooms for arts and crafts workshops and event spaces for community and private celebrations.

I'm the executive director of Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts, which owns and operates Tuckpoint and Roland's Loft in The Sardeson, and three other special guest spaces. Proceeds from our lodging guests support our arts and crafts programming and the historic preservation of our buildings and grounds on our 2.5-acre campus in the heart of Mineral Point.
