Southmoreland is a historic 1913 Mansion whose goal is to provide hospitality and comfort. It is conveniently located in the heart of Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza. If your goal is to find a unique alternative to the classic downtown hotel, then look no further!

The main floor boasts a living room with a gas fireplace and wet bar, a dining room with a lengthy wood table and a sunroom with a porch swing. The veranda is lined with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the garden in summer.

The Loose family's Massachusetts' summer house "Searocks" is inspiration for this guestroom and bath decorated in calming coastal tones boasting a king-sized iron bed. A private and spacious deck with porch swing overlooks the courtyard and rock waterfall. This room is located on the second floor.

The House features sumptuous seating and contemporary ease making it a prime location to unwind. Between our harvest dining room, sunroom, veranda and outdoor patio you can host 28 guests for a stayover, and up to 40 guests for an onsite event. Plan your intimate family gathering, wedding, or corporate event.

The Property is located in the heart of the historic Southmoreland neighborhood. It is situated within steps of the Nelson Atkins Art Museum which is world famous and incredibly picturesque, as well as the Kemper Museum for Contemporary Art, and the Kansas City Art Institute. Have a picnic on the lawn of the Nelson and then walk to the Plaza Shopping district for more fun!

If you’re looking for lodging beyond the ordinary and want unique, local accommodations, we invite you to stay at Southmoreland on the Plaza. Set in a gorgeous 1913 Colonial Revival Mansion, our boutique art hotel’s prime location is highly convenient, situated just one and a half blocks off Kansas City’s famous Country Club Plaza. The atmosphere is casual and pleasing, with upscale décor and great attention to detail. Southmoreland on the Plaza is popular with leisure guests celebrating a special occasion or exploring Kansas City, as well as with business travelers seeking a well-deserved respite.

Each room is equipped with a Keurig machine, mini-fridge, Smart TV with Hulu and Hulu+ (along with any apps you'd like to log into). We're a 5 minute walk to all of the great local restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping on the Country Club Plaza!
