Located in a lovely residential neighborhood, this cozy, well appointed studio is .7 miles from beautiful Lake Merritt. The Lakeshore shopping district (Trader Joes, specialty shops and restaurants) is a short walk.

COVID UPDATE: The majority of restaurants in the neighborhood have reinstated indoor dining, while keeping the outdoor dining option available. The Grand Lake Theater has reopened and BART and Ferry service are increasing hours.

If you plan to work remotely, the WiFi is strong.

I recently created this warm and welcoming studio in the lower level of my 1920s home. There is a private entrance and all the amenities needed to make your stay comfortable.

The space is well insulated and stays cool during the summer. An efficient space heater keeps it warm and comfortable in the winter. The studio is also equipped with fans and an air purifier.

The kitchenette includes a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, electric kettle, coffee maker, and everything you’ll need to prepare simple meals or enjoy delivery or take out.

The TV is equipped with DIRECTV and Roku (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon) and the WiFi will allow you to work remotely or stream.

There is a laundry room adjacent to the studio which is shared space with the host. You are welcome to use the washer and dryer and all laundry supplies.

Crocker Highlands is a beautiful neighborhood, comprised mostly of homes built in the 1920s. Lakeshore Avenue, just blocks away, is our main shopping district. There are many restaurants, specialty shops, post office, banks, etc. Lake Merritt is a 15 minute walk from the studio and, even during Covid, is a fun and vibrant place.

On Saturdays, there’s the Grandlake Farmers Market, about a 10 minute walk. It feels more like a Streetfair than a farmers market with lots of crafts, live Music, restaurant kiosks and more.

The immediate neighborhood is a lovely place to walk with lots of secret paths and staircases to discover. Right across the street is Oak Grove Park, a 1/3 mile path that runs between Mandana and Longridge Rd.

I am a mother of three, all born and raised in Oakland. I started a new chapter in my life as “grandma“ this spring. I have been providing childcare in some capacity for the past 40 years. Currently, I operate a small preschool program, in my backyard, weekday mornings. I love Oakland and would not want to live anywhere else. I love sharing its beauty, diversity, and wonderful culture with all who come to visit.
