This spacious, modern & characterful holiday home is warm, with double glazing and a wood burner - ideal for a winter getaway, as well as being a sunny and comfortable place to relax in summer
A little beach and swimming just 50 m away.
お部屋
The house is surrounded by hills and native bush with lots of native birds. It's next to a field in which cows graze. It is completely fenced off and so is suitable for children. There is a road to cross to get to the little beach where you can swim at high tide. You are just a few minutes drive from the west entry into the Abel Tasman National Park with its amazing walking tracks and huts and there are lots of other shorter walks you can do nearby. The beach to the west nearby has mussels and oysters on the rocks, ready for the taking. It's a good place to launch kayaks. It is a very peaceful, restful place, yet only a 20 minute drive back to Takaka where there is all that civilisation can offer. There are two kayaks and life jackets available. There is a small BBQ in the laundry which can be used outside on the picnic table on the deck.
ゲストの立ち入り範囲
You will have the whole house to yourselves. There are a few other holiday homes nearby, which may or may not be occupied.
その他の特記事項
*Please note - important*
There is NO cellphone reception, wifi, internet, or TV. The nearest cellphone reception is a 5 minute drive up the hill. It’s a great chance to take a real break and enjoy the simpler things in life. We like it that way, and we hope you do too.

*Beaches and setting*
Our bach is just across the road from Wainui Inlet, which is a great kid friendly beach. There's a river/channel that runs through the inlet, and a nearby stream for making dams and sandcastles. It's a few minutes walk down to the main beach (via either the the inlet or the road), where you'll find rock pools to explore and shells to collect. There's enjoyable swimming in either the channel or down at the main beach.
Wainui Bay is a quieter area where the beach is never overcrowded. The bach is part of a small cluster of baches, with a neighbour on one side and a farmer's field on the other - there's a real sense of 'getting away from it all'
*Walking*
There are great short and long walks in the area. The spectacular and very popular Wainui Falls walk (about 1 hour return) is just a few minutes drive away. It's also possible to start the Abel Tasman National Park walk from the bach at low tide (by walking across the inlet), or it's a 12 minute drive to the main track entrance. The Totaranui campground is a half hour drive away.
*Location*
The bach is about 25 minutes drive from Takaka (the main township), or 15 minutes drive from Pohara (restaurants/groceries/cafes). There’s plenty to see and do around Golden Bay - just check the Golden Bay Visitor Centre website for more information.

I am a semi-retired farmer and sheep dairy product processor. My partner Henriette is a retired teacher and can speak a bit of Dutch, French and Indonesian. I enjoy the outdoors, travel, meeting people, food and culture, art and history. We love gardening, swimming and sunbathing on Golden Bay's wonderful beaches. We are passionate about the amazing beauty, isolation, and culture of Golden Bay and feel very privileged to be living here with my dog Ted. We look forward to meeting you and sharing our wonderful place with you.
