Pinos Altos Casita is a newly constructed elegant dwelling a short walk from the center of this mountain village at the edge of Gila National Forest. Enjoy a full bedroom with additional bed in loft, accommodating a couple and two children. All new everything, including dishwasher, washer & dryer, with a private porch and outside patio. A peaceful, passive solar place to make your get-away home - just 7 miles north of Silver City. A faraway forest home that's close to city entertainment. Dogs are welcome, and there is a $15 per night ($75 weekly) fee per pet.

Pinos Altos is a gold mining town from the 1860s that became a ghost town that now has about 250 residents. It is situated on the edge of the Gila National Forest on the state road that ends 25 miles to the north at the Gila Cliff Dwellings. If you like to explore the past, hike, road or mountain bike, or just to enjoy the forest and the mountains, Pinos Altos is your kind of place.

Tom Barry and Debra Preusch own PinosAltosCasa and will be your neighbors. Debra manages the internship and Youth Conservation Corps program at the local experiential learning Aldo Leopold High School, while Tom is an author and policy analyst, specializing in U.S.-Mexico affairs for the Center for International Policy. We moved to Pinos Altos to live next to the Gila National Forest/Wilderness. Biking, hiking, backpacking, and traveling in Latin America, particularly Mexico, are among our favorite pastimes. While we are traveling, our daughter Alexandra Preusch manages the casita.
