This unique Mid-century Modern architectural period piece nestled in one of the District’s most prestigious residential neighborhoods will resonate with people seeking a peaceful oasis of natural beauty. The historic property is a 4,000 sqft 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bathroom 1960’s home with a large swimming pool & garden in a wooded cul-de-sac in Chevy Chase NW DC, 20 minutes from the White House.

Built as a showcase entertaining space by one the first televangelists in the 1960s, then owned by a leading Presidential hopeful in the 70s, this home impresses you with its spaciousness and light once you step through a handcrafted front door. Exposing a sun-filled open living space, it is an impressive combination of exotic hardwoods, exposed brick, expanses of glass, and beamed ceilings.

You may take a self-guided tour through a museum-quality collection of sculptures, paintings and tribal artifacts curated during decades of humanitarian work and travel overseas by the owners.

Much of the home’s furnishings and bathrooms were state-of-the-art in the 1980s and remain so, untouched. This house has a lot of character and history, but if you are looking for modern aseptic functionality, this home is not for you. The house is deliberately analogue, not digital. It is accordingly priced-under-value to comparable houses in the District. Please read the notes below carefully to determine if it is the right fit for you.

The top floor deck is house-width overlooking a lush garden area with a very large kidney-shaped pool set among 28 fruit trees and vines, entirely secluded from the neighbors.

* Spacious living and dining rooms with wall-to-wall windows overlooking the garden and the pool
* Chef's kitchen with wall-to-wall windows featuring an AGA stove, a fireplace & a family area
* Opulent Romanesque master suite
* Cozy library overlooking a communal green space
* One full and one guest bathrooms

GROUND FLOOR:

* Family room with sprawling entertainment space that flows organically into the garden
* Bar and large fireplace
* Two generously sized bedrooms
* Two bathrooms
* Large laundry room with washer and dryer

AMENITIES

* Two-car carport and a large driveway
* Borders Rock Creek Park
* In the vicinity of the Chevy Chase Circle and Friendship Heights metro station

Guests have access to all areas of the house except for the in-law suite, which is separated from the rest of the house and has a separate entry. The swimming pool area and the gym in the gazebo is shared with the owners. Guests have priority. Sheds are off limits.

* This is an old house with old fixtures. Therefore it is already competitively priced. Do not expect hotel standards.
* Pool and garden maintenance included.
* Pool is in operation May through October.
* A caretaker resides on the premises but has a separate entrance and apartment that is is fully separated from the rest of the house.
*Anti- COVID-19 bio-security measures include the installation of an UV-light disinfection unit, the installation of a A/C MERV-13 filter and an increased outside air through-put in the house A/C. This reduces the house’s lower temperature ranges but increases bio-security. Additional portable A/C units have been installed to compensate, but do not expect temperatures lower than the mid-70s, particularly when outside temperature range in the high 90s in July and August.
* During the summer months, the upstairs warms up. We have installed additional air conditioning units in the hall and the master bedroom, as well as outdoor blinds to help keep the place cool. However, expect the temperature to be in the 70s during the summer months.
* During the summer months, the AGA oven is turned off to help keep the place cool. There is an electric oven with 2 hot plates and an electric pan in the kitchen, as well as microwave, toaster and other appliances. We also have an outdoor grill/smoker.
* Master bedroom jacuzzi is currently out of order and should not be used.
* The swimming pool area is shared with the owners, but guests have priority.
* Gazebo had been re-equipped as an outdoor gym. You are welcome to use it!
* The sheds are off limits.
* Please do not use the trash compactor. There are 2 trash cans in the kitchen, and the trash bins are right behind the carport.
* NO SMOKING OR VAPING INSIDE THE HOUSE
* NO PARTIES
* NO UNAUTHORIZED GUESTS
