No. 16 is a charming wee seaside cottage that has been in our family for many generations. It has been lovingly updated to retain its cosy character and historical significance whilst providing modern comforts right on the shores of beautiful Applecross Bay. This row of homes was constructed by the Applecross Estate in the 19c. to provide housing for its workers. It is a listed building on the NC500 route.
お部屋
Enjoy the charming sanctuary of No. 16.
As you enter Applecross, No. 16 is just past the Applecross Inn on Shore Street. There is parking in front of cottage. Enter through mudroom with coat and boot racks, umbrellas and walking sticks. The cottage has 2 rooms downstairs and 2 rooms upstairs with a bathroom.
We encourage our guests to live like a local and put technology behind you (also because there is little to no mobile phone reception in Applecross!).
The sitting room with tartan wool carpet, vintage leather club chair and sofas, is a perfect place to relax after a day out in Applecross. Snuggle up by the wood burning hearth on chilly evenings. In keeping with our "off the grid" philosophy, there is no television in the cottage (but guests can stream on their device with free WiFi).
Wonderful farmhouse kitchen with original oven. Everything needed to prepare meals – pots, pans, bowls, dishware, cutlery – available for guest use. Tea & toast station with stovetop coffee pot, French press, toaster and electric kettle. Microwave in cupboard above double ovens. Full size fridge and freezer. New glass-top electric cooker.
Dining table with seating for four. Washing machine for guest use is also in the kitchen. Visit the Village Shop for basic groceries or order their Holiday Starter Pack online. There are no other grocers in Applecross, so if you plan on making big meals it is recommended to shop in Inverness or Loch Carron prior to your arrival. The Walled Garden has homemade, organic ready meals to take away in the wee shop at the back of the restaurant.
Upstairs are 2 bedrooms and the bathroom.
The first bedroom has a comfortable double bed, furnished with high-quality linens and duvet. Sleeps 2.
The second bedroom, across the the hall from bedroom 1, has two single beds also with high quality linens and feather duvets. Sleeps 2.
Vintage dresser and nightstands for your belongings. Warm Scots pine and embossed wallpaper add to the cosiness of the rooms. The original wooden floors are worn by many generations of our family. Both bedrooms have a double French doors leading out to the gardens and a dormer window overlooking the bay.
Freshly renovated bathroom on the first floor with views over Applecross Bay. Compact yet luxurious, featuring a lovely walk-in shower and underfloor heating for chilly mornings. We provide fresh towels and essential toiletries for your stay.

No. 16 is right on the shores of Applecross Bay and a few hundred feet from the Applecross Inn on the NC500 route.
Over the road called the Bealach, if the cloud has lifted, you’ll see panoramas to the Outer Hebrides and South to the Kintail. It is the grand entrance into our wee, hidden village of Applecross. We have fantastic beaches, calm waters, gentle hills, abundant nature, crofting townships, great food, fresh produce, live music, extreme sports, gorgeous arts and crafts, incredible sunsets and so much more.
Wild, rustic and extremely remote, Applecross is a wonderful place to explore for anyone. With a wealth of beaches, several local walks, kayaking, photographic workshops, personal training workouts, amazing places to eat and drink and lots more!
Home to just a couple of hundred people, and accessed by only two roads, the Bealach pass road from the South and the coast road from the North, this is a haven from the noise and clutter of modern life.
Applecross is the name for the whole peninsula and the community is made up of various crofting townships. Shore Street can be described as the “centre” of Applecross, with the Inn at its hub.
Although sparsely populated, Applecross has a thriving village life with many artists and artisans inspired by its beauty making a living here. Proud of our crofting and fishing heritage, we have award winning food with fresh, local Scottish produce.
Village life moves at a slower pace, with time to appreciate the amazing nature and stunning views. There is a mystic beauty surrounding the place, one of the first Christian settlements in Scotland, with views to the west of the Isle of Skye.
Please respect our fragile and remote community.
