Eclectic home reflects the displaced New Yorker and Detroiter who live here in the home. Art, jazz, books and fiber personalize a home with lots of character. Quiet neighborhood with everything you need, and close enough to walk downtown, a comfortable 2 miles away.
During Coronavirus you'll have sole use of the woodland motif downstairs bathroom; microwave, fridge and coffee pot in your room. Mask up in common areas! Back porch and swinging chairs, cozy beds, and new towels await you!

Due to Coronavirus, guests will be asked to stay in the back part of the house, going in and out of the back door and wearing a mask when walking through the kitchen to your private bathroom. Full use of the porch and tiny yard with lounge chairs.
Charcoal BBQ grill on back porch.
Ask if you'd like to use the washing machine. Dryer racks available.
Local newspaper and occasional New York Times to share. Save Paul the crossword puzzle, though!

We live our real lives here, Paul and Meryl. This is not a professionally run immaculate inn. It is clean, friendly and homey. Come stay a spell.

Tree-lined street in a quiet, desirable neighborhood with amenities all in walking distance: coffee shops (local and Starbucks), convenience store, restaurants/pizza, 2 gourmet and 2 ethnic food shops, ice cream and movies, hair care, library, church, woods and cemetery for walks, small university art museum, chain drug store.
2 miles to all that fabulous downtown Portland Maine has to offer - we're a foodie town with a beach, museums, and throbbing (ok, autocorrect, I'll take it, but I meant thriving) arts scene.
1.6 miles (walkable, or 8 minutes by car) to Thompson's Point outdoor music venue.
Minutes to University of Southern Maine and University of New England Portland campuses. About 20 minutes to Freeport Maine, quaint town that's home to LL Bean and outlet shopping, a state park and restaurants.
Boston = 2 hours, Portsmouth NH =1 hour, Acadia National Park/ Bar Harbor area = 3 hours. Bates College = 45 minutes, Bowdoin College = 30 minutes. Skiing is one to 2.5 hours away for your choice of 5 ski facilities. Enjoy Portland on the way!
Street and off-street parking available. Major snow storm? Help shovel us all out!

Paul is the social, in-person one; happy to regale with stories if you want. Sports, jazz, Detroit, Michigan, books and authors.
Meryl is out a lot and not so chatty, but the one to contact regarding reservation and logistics, and via phone, text, email, in-ap, etc. Fluent in American Sign Language, survival Spanish.
We live our real lives here, come join us.
