***RE COVID ET ALL Hey everyone thank you so much for your interest in Ome. As you can imagine, everything is up in the air with Tourism in Newfoundland and Labrador for this upcoming season. We are taking it day by day to see where this goes in the next few weeks/months before we know what our season will look like. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our customers and staff, so we are going to let science dictate how flexible we will be this summer. So please ask us questions, and our super host manager Ruthann will get back to you with info as we get it. Thank you and perhaps... we will see you this summer! SM Thank you so much for your interest in visiting my 'Ometown of Burlington, Newfoundland. My name is Shaun Majumder. I am the founder of this little social enterprise we like to call 'Ome. For those of you who haven't seen the documentary series "Majumder Manor" on the W Network in Canada, let me give you some background on what it is we are doing. This is not your typical AirBnB! I've always had a deep love for Newfoundland, but more specifically Burlington. Despite moving away, I returned 'Ome often. Every chance I get, I try to bring friends and family back to experience it’s remote and rugged beauty, but without any hotels, Inn's or BnB's, finding space for people has always been a problem. One summer while 'Ome, I thought "I wonder if there's any land around for sale.” As it turned out, there was. The question was, what would I do with it? Would I build my own house? Perhaps this could be a solution to my "nowhere to stay" problem. So I thought "What if we built a 4-5 room house that would be used specifically for come from aways? What if we charged a price for the stay and the money went back into the town?" And so, the seeds for the 'Ome Social Enterprise were planted... That idea has since evolved and has grown into a larger community initiative including a Music Festival called “The Gathering”and a local greenhouse. 'Our wilderness tents are the first step toward our long term goal of creating a sustainable micro economy for the town of Burlington. Currently we have nine 'Ome Wilderness Tents, and an ‘Ome Pod. As we evolve we hope to grow by adding multiple pods, additional ocean front tents, and eventually a central lodge. ‘Ome is a not for profit social enterprise. The money you spend goes right back to the community to help grow and sustain the tourism infrastructure. Not only do you get to have an authentic cultural experience by immersing yourself in Burlington, but your dollars are also going towards supporting the economic resilience of small town Newfoundland. Because of you, ‘Ome has been able to hire local people who may have felt compelled to travel away for work. These incredible members of our 'Ome team are dedicated to giving you the best experience possible. As we are still in the pioneer stage of this project, your feedback is encouraged . We love to learn and grow, and we always want to improve. Thank you for your interest, and I can’t wait for you to experience the magic of my ‘Ome town. I
