La Habana、キューバ

If there is one thing we can highlight about the neighborhood, it is the expression of Cuban culture where cultural manifestations from three continents are merged: Europe, Africa and Asia, which has given it that dimension of universality that it enjoys, a culture of its own that has developed over the centuries and is the product of the greatest of mixed races.

Despite its appearance is a quiet neighborhood, the people are very cheerful and always willing to help.

In the territory of Central Havana, due to its Hispanic origin, it is deeply rooted in the existing Spanish societies that preserve their traditions. The mixture of African slaves creates a symbiosis whose maximum expression is the "Callejón de Hamel", a courtyard that exhibits the creativity of Cuban artists, and where many cultural activities take place. The Chinese culture is also very present and its best exponent is the Chinatown, in which you can taste the culinary, artistic and martial arts traditions of that culture.

Nearby places to visit:

The Paseo del Prado, stretches from the esplanade of La Punta at the entrance to the bay to the Fountain of India, with a length of about 2 000 meters. Built from 1700 onwards, it was complemented at the end of the 19th century by the Central Park and took its present appearance from 1928 onwards. It has always been a meeting place for Havana residents of all periods. Today it is flanked by numerous buildings with large portals (Gran Teatro de La Habana, Payret), luxurious hotels (England, Seville, Park View, Plaza) and there are several of the island's most important museums. The Capitol building is located very close by, and it has been identified as one of the seven great works of art of the early 20th century.

Hamel Alley, it's almost unique of its kind in the city. It is decorated with Afro-Cuban motifs and sells plants and works of art related to Afro-Cuban cults. Where the Cuban roots are lived without equal.

Fragua Martiana, located in the Cayo Hueso Council, carries out activities aimed at disseminating the thoughts of our National Hero. Where when she was very young she had to work for her ideas. It was a forerunner of Ibero-American modernism. He stood out for his fluid, simple style and vivid personal images. Appointed Consul of Argentina and Paraguay in New York and subsequently the government of Uruguay appointed Martí as its representative at the International Monetary Conference to be held in Washington D. C.

Calle San Rafael, at the end of the 19th century this area experienced a demographic and commercial growth, located near this street some of the most important tobacco factories such as: Larrañaga Hupman, Jaime Partagás and Cabañas.

Chung Wah Society, founded in 1893, is one of the oldest societies that exists and one of the religious and fraternal centers of that Asian community in Cuba. It also has a temple or historical corner.
It has a restaurant with dishes typical of this culture.

The Chinatown, is another first-rate attraction and has become one of the most interesting places in the city, largely due to its uniqueness and the profusion of Chinese restaurants that offer the best of that cuisine. Nowadays, the expression of Chinese culture is appreciated in festivals such as the "Overseas Chinese Festival" or the House of Chinese Arts and Traditions (known as "La Casona"), which is home to a wide variety of cultural events such as exhibitions of plastic arts and dance workshops.

Real Fábrica de Tabacos Partagás, north of the Parque de la Fraternidad, in calle industrial número 520 is the Real Fábrica. It is the oldest and most famous factory in Havana. The cigars brands are produced there, founded in 1845 by the Spanish Jaime Partagás.

Real Fábrica de Tabaco La Corona was founded in 1842, in calle Agramonte, near calle Refugio. During the opening hours you can see how expert smokers produce the famous Romeo and Julieta, Montecristo and Cohiba cigars.

Casino Español, the building of the old Casino Español, now called Palacio de los Matrimonios, is the favorite place for Havana's people to get married. Located at number 302, Paseo del Prado, corner with Ánimas and built in 1914, it is a very pleasant place to visit.
Casa Museo José Lezama Lima, a building built for the purpose of real estate leasing, was occupied by José Lezama Lima and his mother. He lived in this house from the 1930s until his death, where he wrote his surprising poems and most famous novels. He has a large part of the rich personal collection of works of art, gifts from his friends Victor Manuel, Mariano Rodriguez, René Portocarrero among others, which lavishly set the atmosphere of each space of the building.

Soy médico. Me gustan muchas cosas: mi trabajo, cocinar, viajar, el cine.
