The rustic Writer’s Cabin is the east duplex of a former dairy barn and has a 500 sq ft studio room, kitchen & bathroom w. shower. There is a queen bed, sofa bed, table and chairs, wood fire stove and a heat pump (no air conditioning). To the north is a view of an apple orchard and to the south a small fish pond. There is a small enclosed yard to the north. We follow USDA cleaning standards.

This historic & quaint and rustic cabin is part of Taos Goji Eco Lodge Retreat & organic goji farm. Nestled in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains it's 11 mile north of Taos and about 25 miles to north Red River and Taos Ski Areas. Ideally located you can still enjoy the mountain views, aspens and cottonwood trees, silence, and bright stars. There are plenty of scenic hikes around,vmountain bike roads, cross country spots, fishing & driving distance to natural hot springs.

Part of an eco lodge, the Writer's Cabin
/duplex sits on 40 acres among seasonal creeks, ponds, aspens and cottonwood trees, organic berry orchards and great views of the mountains. It's a great space to kick back in, write, paint or take walks,fish, mountain biking or go cross country skiing.

We do have a small farm cafe, generally opening on Memorial Day and closing on Labor Day. We also serve pastries, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, yoghurt, berries and fritata for a suggested donation. We also offer a farm breakfast at 8am and a farm lunch at 1:30 am with out wwoofers (willing workers on organic farms) for an extra fee. Please give us 24 hours notice.

A seasonal vegetable garden and chickens provide produce and fresh ranch eggs to renters. A play ground is available for families with children. Nearby are opportunities for hiking, fishing, lama trekking, horseback trails. hot air ballooning, and natural hot springs are within driving distance.

San Cristobal is a small village and our eco lodge was built at the turn of last century. Aldous Huxley lived and wrote in our cabins and we found water colors from D.H. Lawrence and letters to the publishers from Frieda Lawrence in the attic of one of the cabins.

We are surrounded by national forest and a small river flows from the mountains and into part of the village.

Taos is only 11 miles away and the Taos Ski Valley and Red River only about 30 minutes away. Taos Ski Valley reminds us of the Swiss/French/Austrian founders' roots blended with the traditions and customs of the local Hispanic and Pueblo Indian cultures. Being the home of extreme skiing, this is just not a resort for experts, with many beginner and intermediate runs. The ski school is one of the nation's best. It also has an excellent children's day care and ski facility, both skiers and snowboarders are welcome.

Taos is home to more than twenty sites on the National Register of Historic Places. The Taos Pueblo has been occupied for nearly a millennium and is considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited community in the Unites States. The Taos Pueblo was added as an Unesco World Heritage Site in 1992 as one of the most significant historical cultural landmarks in the world;

There are many ways to explore art in Taos. Taos is an old art colony since 1899. Some of the artists' studios have been preserved and may be viewed by visitors. Many of the historic sites are homes and studios of artists, including the Mabel Dodge Luhan House,Eanger Irving Couse House and Studio, Joseph Henry Sharp Studios, the Leon Gaspard House, the Couse/Sharp Historic Site and the Ernest Martin Hennings House. On Ledoux Street, just south of the Taos Plaza, are the Ernest L. Blumenschein House and Harwood House.

There are three Art Museums in Taos: Harwood Museum of Art, Taos Art Museum and Millicent Rogers Museum that provide art from the pueblo Native Americans, Taos Society of Artists and modern and contemporary artists of the Taos art colony. The town has numerous art galleries and there are several houses of the Taos Society of Artists.

Taos Ski Valley、ニューメキシコ州、アメリカ合衆国

San Cristobal is an old valley village nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains with around two hundred families. It is about eleven miles from our property to the outskirts of Taos. It is 23miles to Taos ski valley and Red River Ski are 22 miles away.

Some of the families in our valley date back several hundred years. San Cristobal is surrounded by national forest and there are several scenic hikes close to our property. The San Cristobal creek runs through the valley and many of the gardens are watered by the ditches, diverted from the mother creek. These are called acequias and the laws surrounding these date back to the Spaniards.

D.H. Lawrence ranch where Frieda and D.H. Lawrence lived and are now buried is also located in San Cristobal, five miles from our property. Lama Foundation is a commune and spiritual community, dating from the sixties. It is located on Lama Mountain, 8.3 miles from San Cristobal, about fifteen minutes. Lama Foundation is best known for the book "Be here Now" written by Ram Dass who used to live at Lama Foundation. Visitors are welcome and can partake in the many workshops, summer dinners (donations accepted) Sufi dancing and Sabatth. Thanksgiving dinner is open to the public (donations recommended).

We have returned to NM after many years working as professionals in stuffy offices. Our family love the experience of creating an eco friendly, farm based place for those who wish to be close to nature and live of the land. Creating an eco friendly environment is an ongoing process. Our berries, fruits and vegetables are organically cultivated. The chickens are free ranging and the growth season has been extended by a green house. All of our casitas and cabins have wood fire stoves. The cabins are also heated by energy efficient air-heat pumps powered by solar. Eventually we would like to be totally off the grid and supply all of our electricity from wind and solar energy. The eco lodge is part of a recycling program and uses only use eco friendly cleaners, dish and laundry detergents. A grey water system and a large holding pond with well and acequia water are being created to irrigate our expanding Goji plantation. The Eco lodge's water comes from four deep wells, fed by mountain aquafirs. Here is a recent article in Taos News about our goji berry farm. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Eric, my husband and I are avid travelers and our children journeyed with us from the time they were babies. Now our two older children are also Airbnb hosts. We look forward to seeing you at our farm!

Interaction with guests depends on the privacy needs of the vacationers. We do arrange potlucks and dinners throughout the year for those who are socially inclined. Guests are also welcome to join us in the seasonal Trading Post cafe for breakfast with the wwoofers (willing workers in organic farms).
