We’ll meet you in the Santa Barbara Harbor at the gate of marina 3 and walk you down the docks to where my 31 foot sailing boat ‘Star Jasmine’ is docked. You’ll then board the ship and stow your belongings down below, we’ll then talk you through some key safety points and general guidelines for our trip. At this point we’ll motor out of the slip and head towards the mouth of the harbor where we’ll decide which direction to go. We have several different options depending on what you feel like doing. We can run down the coast and get a view of the Santa Barbara waterfront or head up the coast along the cliffs of the Mesa or go straight out to sea towards the Channel Islands. Often we’ll encounter seals, dolphins, and sea birds along the way. Depending on the weather and your desire we could put up the sails & turn off the motor to enjoy the freedom of active sailing. If your preference is more to kick back we can motor sail or even drop the anchor close to shore. You’re welcome to bring snacks and drinks and we’ll just enjoy the view of our beautiful coastline! At the end of our journey we’ll cruise back into the harbor and dock back at my slip where our trip began. I’ll quickly tie up the boat & give you time to gather your belongings before we part ways.
I’ve been sailing the Santa Barbara channel for 20 years and have owned 3 sailboats. I started ‘Santa Barbara Channel Charters’ 2 years ago so I could share the unique experience of sailing in these beautiful waters. I have over 720 documented days at sea, a Master 100 ton Captains license with a Sailing endorsement to teach sailing. Originally from the south of France on the Mediterranean, I moved to Santa Barbara at the age of 4 and grew up in this beautiful place I call home. Being a local I can give you my insight on things to do, places to eat, beaches to go to, hiking etc...
The Santa Barbara Harbor alone is a destination spot, a working harbor there are commercial fishermen, sport sailors and fishers, pleasure cruisers, beautiful yachts, several restaurants, a fish market, and a convenience store. You’ll have an insiders perspective walking down the dock. As we cruise out of the harbor you’ll have a unique view of Sterns Wharf and beautiful views of Santa Barbara from the water.
