We will meet at Commons Beach (280 N Lake Blvd) in Tahoe City 1 hour before sunset (times vary by month, as sunset times/days get shorter). We will go over some basic paddling skills, then head out on our paddle down the West shore of the lake. Along the way I'll tell you stories about the colorful history of this area while we watch the sunset and the moon rise. Dry bags, kayaks, paddles, a headlamp, and life jackets will be provided. Bring sunglasses, a long-sleeved layer to put on once the sun goes down, and a bottle of water (our tap water in Tahoe is cleaner than most store-bought water). This is a fantastic time to be out on the water. Children need to be over 5 yrs old to participate on this tour. We'd like to know whether you prefer to paddle a single or a tandem (double) kayak.
I am an ACA trained kayak guide/instructor. I have been guiding historical tours on Lake Tahoe for several years. If you tour with me you'll learn lots of historical facts about this area, while also learning some new "Dad Jokes" and paddling skills. My passion for water sports has led me from Central Ohio, to the shores of Lake Champlain and, over the past 16 years, the world renowned Lake Tahoe. I take immense joy from making life long memories for my clients and myself, and strive to make people's time in Lake Tahoe unforgettable! I hope to see you out there!
We will provide a kayak (double or single, your choice), a dry bag, a paddle, and a headlamp.
We will paddle past the mouth of the Truckee River, which offers frequent opportunities to view wildlife and discuss the ecology of this area. We will also paddle past the historic Tahoe Tavern Resort, which offers an opportunity to talk about the founding of Tahoe City, and the lumber and tourism industries here at Tahoe. The best attraction, however, is the beauty of the sunset on the water.
5歳以上の方9名まで参加できます。 It would be nice if guests were capable of swimming with a life jacket on. This scenario is very very unlikely, but possible. 80% of the tour will take place kayaking on water that is shallow enough to stand in.
If you are fit enough to go on a 30 minute hike or bike ride, you are fit enough for this tour (it's not that strenuous). Please do not bring alcohol, or show up to the tour intoxicated
