We will be at the entrance to the Old City of London, right on London Bridge and a short walk from the Shard. The earliest record of the market town of Southwark is circa 1014. It seems to have always been a lively hub, from dubious brothels, pubs, and theaters, to activity and trade from all over the south of England. It was a successful commercial wholesale market for many years before it finally became the market it is today.
