Our experience will be centred around the City of London, London Bridge and Tower Bridge. I chose this location because it is where you can see the entire history of this city from the Roman settlement of Londinium through the medieval period and up to the modern day. We will see large London landmarks like Tower Bridge, The Tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral but I will also show you lesser visited sites like the remains of the original London Bridge, the world's first ever subway and more sites usually unknown to tourists due to lack of signage or publicity. You'll see the Roman wall, the site of London's amphitheatre where gladiators did battle, amazing churches, cathedrals and much more! As I show you these pieces of history I will also talk about their significance in the development of the city and try to give you an understanding of how London has come to be what it is today!
I am a professional Archaeologist who has been taking part in excavations around the world for 7 years. I moved to London a decade ago in order to study at The Institute of Archaeology, UCL. I had planned to return to my home city of Manchester but fell in love with London and stayed. I have worked on Archaeological excavations in the Middle East, Africa, and all around the UK but am always fascinated by the history of the city I live in. I am passionate about history and archaeology, I am also passionate about sharing my knowledge with others. I've lived in lots of different areas of London and love helping people enjoy the city. My girlfriend is a theatre director and we both love food so if culture and eating are your thing I'll be happy to point you in the right direction!
