Join us on an Icelandic adventure where we go behind a waterfall, taste some local food and swim in the floating pools of Vök-Baths! We start our experience with the 30 minute hike up to a waterfall only 3 minutes away from Egilsstaðir. We will take a few stops to talk about Icelandic nature, culture and landmarks we can see along the way. When we reach the waterfall we will guide those who want to go behind the waterfall. We have to be careful going down to the waterfall, it might not be for the faint of heart. The scenery behind the waterfall is truly stunning. After hiking back down we go to the local park in our town which has a nice picnic area. There we will have some delicious Icelandic flat breads, harðfiskur (dried fish), and drinks. Finally we go to the hot water springs of Vök-baths for a swim. Vök-baths is a brand new place that opened in the summer of 2019. The water in the floating pools streams from hot springs deep under lake Urriðavatn. Katla is working at Vök-baths so she will be able to tell you everything you want to know abo
My girlfriend Katla and I are 23 years old living in Egilsstaðir. We are athletes, travelers and outgoing persons who love being out in nature. We have been walking up to the Fardagafoss waterfall for years. We know the path extremely well, the stories behind landmarks you see along the way and the exciting yet challenging way to get behind the waterfall. We have traveled to over 20 countries and we know how enthusiastic people are about Icelandic culture/nature and would love to share it with those who want to explore it.

Ticket to Vök-baths
We make our way up to the Fardagafoss waterfall, just outside of Egilsstaðir. The hike is a comfortable one but we might break a sweat if we keep a good pace. Our next location is a picnic area in the local forest called Selskógur. It's in walking range from Egilsstaðir town. The last location is the hot water springs of Vök-baths just northwest of Egilsstaðir.
Please dress according to weather and know that you might get wet behind the waterfall. We recommend good hiking shoes but it is not necessary. If you don't have swimsuits or towels please let us know
