With the language barrier and sheer number of dishes, it's easy to see why most farang stick to pad Thai from the tourist markets. Fear not. On my small-group food tour limited to just 8 guests you'll try over 20 different dishes, snacks and drinks that offer a real introduction to the regional cuisine. Kick things your Chiang Mai food tour in the best food market in the city. Here, you'll indulge in 15+ different tastes and learn about their origins. Afterwards, you'll be whisked away to try the best bowl of Chiang Mai's famous khao soi - thick, silky coconut curry topped with crispy noodles, roasted chilli paste and pickled greens. It doesn't end there though. We know a hidden little barbeque hut where you'll tuck into mouth-watering grilled chicken Thai-style. Watch your spatchcocked beauty sizzle over charcoal before being served with zingy papaya salad and spicy sauce. Finish at a tiny ice cream joint that's been churning out the good stuff since the '70s. You can pick any flavour, but you're in Thailand, we'll be disappointed if you stick to vanilla. Please note: the tour isn't suitable for vegetarians or vegans. Lactose intolerance can be accommodated as can gluten intolerance if you can eat soy sauce.
I've been a TAT licensed Thai tour guide for longer than I can remember, but my passion is Thai street food. My 4-hour small-group street food tour has won the 2019 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. What many foreigners don't understand is Thai cuisine is highly regional. On my daily 4-hour street food tour, I'll take you to street food stalls and hole-in-the-wall eateries known only to locals where you'll get to grips with what Northern Thai food is all about.
More than 20 Northern Thai tastings over 4 hours

We'll use a private songteaw truck to get around

Then we'll visit a shack for gai yang barbecue chicken, som tum. Finish with Thai ice cream from a vendor who's been selling since the '70s.
