For many years, Bullerön, a last outpost in the Stockholm archipelago, was a hangount for famous artists and other prominent people. Artists like Bruno Liljefors and Anders Zorn and the author Albert Engström worked and socialised there. Mary Pickford, Erroll Flynn, Greta Garbo and Charlie Chaplin came here all the way from Hollywood. We will stroll around this gorgeous island, watching the scenary and and the magnificent view of the ocean, while at the same time learning about its history. We’ll visit Bruno Liljefors’ hunting lodge, where he and his friends enjoyed lavish dinners and parties in the early 20th century. If the weather and water temperature allows we can take a swim on Zara’s Beach, named after the famous Swedish singer Zarah Leander. Legend has it that Zarah Leander was asked if she wanted to go for a swim next morning. The artist replied that she only went swimming on sandy beaches. When she went to bed, Bruno Liljefors ordered a barge with sand to the island. Next morning a sandy beach was awaiting the diva.
