In this hands-on workshop, I'll teach you some of the techniques I've developed during my career as a costume designer and maker. You'll create your own version of this flower headpiece, and use wearable illumination to elegantly accentuate your design. Learn how to build a headband base and define your own aesthetic by choosing flowers, LED color, and details. Walk away with a unique creation that will light up the room at your next party or festival, and the knowledge to keep creating your own designs! I've always thought the right costume can give you superpowers, and allow you to explore a new side of yourself. Even better, when you learn to make your own costumes you get to define who you are going to become. So come craft with me and let yourself transform into a new creature :)
I'm a lifelong maker trained in fine art and clothing design. I have worked in costume and fashion, and published dozens of design tutorials on Instructables.com. My work combines detailed craftsmanship with unusual materials to produce unique wearable pieces. My designs have appeared on runways, in performances, galleries, music videos, weddings, parties, deserts and hyperreal everyday lives.
