Although we do teach advanced riding skills, many people come to our ranch with little, no or negative horse experience. So we start right at the beginning; how to safely approach, halter, lead and tie your horse; Basic instruction in equine behavior, anatomy and instinct that affects our communication with our horses; Proper grooming techniques; an at liberty round pen demonstration and opportunity to try it out yourself as we talk you through guiding your horse through paces at liberty. It’s fun and exciting to see how the horses respond to each individual person! Our Riding lessons move on to saddling, bridling, mounting and use of the basic communication aids for guiding our horse while mounted. Riding posture and balance exercises are taught for comfort and effective riding. Each individual rider moves at their own pace and comfort level as they learn and get the feel of riding. Helmets are required for minors and recommended for all. Long pants are strongly encouraged.
Horses have been my passion and calm for 40+years. I have taught Horsemanship lessons for 33 years as well as trained young horses for show and trail. My riding experience ranges from Cow Working horses to Dressage and Endurance Racing. I have instructors training thru CHA as well as am a member of Path Int where I Study Equine Facilitated Learning/Therapies with an emphasis on Trauma, Special Needs and Mental Health. Throughout my experience as a trainer and instructor, I have always been impressed and awed by the bond that can take place between horse and humans. Proper riding techniques taught encourage harmony between horse and rider. Our horses are part of the family as well as participating business partners in our riding lesson program. We offer grooming, groundwork and riding lessons.
Helmets are provided. All horses and tack are provided.
Our Horsemanship classes are taught here at our ranch. Classes are held in the horse barn, round corral, outdoor arena or indoor arena depending on class taught and weather. All venues are lovely and appropriate for your equine experience.
Wear comfortable weather appropriate clothes, long pants, closed toed boots or shoes, relax, smile if you want, open your mind to enjoying and getting whatever you need out of the experience!
