The City of Hartford's slogan is "Hartford Has It". Well friends, this tour "Has It"! We will meet up and begin the tour at the historic Union Station and work our way through the oldest city park in the country. Next, we move through South Downtown or "SoDo" neighborhood to the new and modern Front St district. For the second half of the tour, we move through multiple pedestrian only plazas and squares as we proceed through the heart of the city. If the weather cooperates, get a one-of-a-kind bird eyes view of the city which you would not be able to access on your own before completing the tour where we started. Throughout this tour you can expect I will: >Share interesting facts and information about the history, development, architecture, politics and quality of life in the City; >Show you the best photo and instagram spots in downtown; >Introduce you to the best coffee shops, restaurants and nightlife locations; >Point out absolute must see local, cultural and tourist sites and activities to visit; The tour will be fun and easy going. I am very passionate about my home and want to share all the fascinating and often hidden places that make this a great city.
I have lived, learned, worked and played in downtown Hartford for 10+ years. My personal experience coupled with my educational background in Urban Studies (history, politics, geography, sociology) and Public Policy allow me to provide a unique perspective on both visiting and living in the city. Additionally, my professional experience working in college Admissions, I developed a strong understanding of what makes a great tour work and how to exceed expectations.
From lesser known sites including the ancient burying ground and river walk to unique architecture including the 1st 2 sided building in the world to fun facts, the best photo ops and showing you the best of the food scene, this tour has it! If you do not see a date and time that work for you, please send me a message. I can arrange a private tour just for you or your group at a slightly higher rate ($40pp).
We will be walking approximately 2 miles throughout the tour so comfortable walking shoes are important. The tour is ADA accessible. We will be outdoors most of the tour so proper attire is important.
