Our introduction to keeping chickens experience has been designed for people who quite fancy keeping chickens, or just want to find out more about them. The experience will last for about 2.5 hours and delegates are encouraged to ask questions; discuss areas of interest and get interactive with the chickens and their environment! As well as teaching you some key phrases in chicken language :) and providing some refreshments and an opportunity to play with the chickens, we'll also explore with you five key areas: - Are chickens for me / us? - What to make / buy - Choosing and buying chickens - Looking after my chickens - Getting more information
Both Chris and Susan are qualified teachers and have been keeping chickens and ducks for a number of years. They manage their 4.5 acre woodland garden as organically as they can and firmly believe that the animals and wildlife that they support should have wonderful lives. In other words - the chickens and ducks are spoilt rotten (but in return provide wonderful eggs!)
Complimentary fried egg roll and a cuppa tea or coffee on arrival (using our own free range eggs of course!)
Complimentary refreshments and fresh scones will be provided.
The workshop will run from our thatched cottage, summerhouse classroom which is set within 4.5 acres of our private woodland garden. Situated in the picturesque village of historic Alloway in Ayrshire, a 10 minute walk to the world famous Brig O'Doon, Burns National Heritage Centre, and Burns Cottage, and on the edge of the main town of Ayr on the west coast of Scotland. The River Doon runs for 1/2 mile as our eastern boundar
