On my walking tour of some of New Orleans' art galleries, my Airbnb guests would be privy to an "insider's" view of some of the Julia Street and St. Claude area galleries. The chosen galleries would be my top pick list for those of us who have a greater knowledge of current trends in the art world, or for those who are interested in learning about these trends. Each tour schedule will be open to what suits the needs of my guests: shorter or longer tours, weekdays or weekends, and/or different times of the day. However, guests should keep in mind that on specific weekends at 6:00 pm., the tour could accommodate the Julia St. or St. Claude art walks when gallery openings are in unison. At the discretion of my guests, everyone is invited to a local bar restaurant at the conclusion of the tour. Guests will be encouraged to discuss the artists, galleries and works that were seen as well as enjoy some local food and cocktails.
As a mixed media artist, I have a rich and varied background in the visual arts which includes being a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, an art educator, a gallery owner, and a professional artist. As an educator in New York City, I learned the importance that passion and communication skills play in getting young people excited about the visual arts and art history. In addition, I learned the business of art by running a gallery and an artist collective. Over the course of 20 years, my work has been exhibited in many galleries and museums, including the Ogden Museum of Southern Art here in New Orleans.
On my tour, guests have the opportunity to experience two distinctly different arts districts. One area is Julia St.'s "blue chip" galleries where visitors are taken through select places that are innovative, well-curated, and inspiring. The other gallery location is the St. Claude arts district. Here, spaces are smaller and spread out, yet the work feels exciting, raw, vibrant and reminiscent of the 80's east village art scene.

Meeting at the St. Claude arts district, or seeing both locations is also an option. I plan to give guests background info. about galleries and artists before setting out. A car service may be needed.
