My workshops start at 10am when I'll welcome you to the workshop and put the kettle on. We'll have a chat about the materials that you've chosen for your rings (please get in touch to talk about these in advance of the class) and begin by measuring out metal. From here I'll guide you through the process of making your rings, demonstrating all of the techniques on a sample ring of my own. We'll cut the metal, bend and solder it before shaping the final ring. From here we'll file, sand and polish them to your chosen finish. Classes typically finish between 2pm & 4pm but we won't down tools until you're happy with your new rings. At the end of the day your rings will stay with me to be sent away for hallmarking (a legal requirement for precious metal sales in the UK) and will generally be ready to post to you 1-2 weeks after your class.
I'm a Jeweller and Goldsmith who trained in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter. For the last 11 years I've been a freelance maker, building my practice and learning skills from other master jewellers. In 2018 I relocated my life and my business to Cornwall and have been enjoying evenings off by the sea ever since.
Biscuits and other snacks - please let me know if you have any dietary preferences/allergies.
All the tea that you can drink along with coffee & herbal tea. Oat and dairy milk are standard (others on request)
My workshop is on a small industrial yard on the edge of Penryn. Hidden up a leaf track is a surprisingly busy site filled with small, local businesses. Penryn itself is a small harbour town which borders vibrant Falmouth.
Metal prices are charged separately so you will need to communicate with me before your class. If you'd like a quote for materials before you book (which I would advise) please get in touch.
