We meet at Belfast City Hall which the major landmark in the city. The tour is in and around the City Centre and lasts for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. We visit historic churches, wander in and out of Belfast's famous 'entries', visit the Cathedral Quarter and see other notable landmarks like the Albert Clock. Along the way, you'll enjoy loads of Belfast humour and we give our recommendations as to what to see and do, places to eat and drink. This tour is a wonderful way to meet the city. It is family friendly and light in tone, looking at Belfast’s surprising radical past both historic and modern. The tour is not focused on the 'troubles' although it is mentioned. If you are interested in the 'troubles' our other tour, 'Troubles Tour: Walls & Bridges" covers this in depth. The emphasis is on the hidden side to Belfast both historical and modern. It's full of information, fun and surprising facts and caters for all ages. It is compact, the pace gentle, covers a lot and provides a great background to make the most of your visit. The tour finishes within sight of Belfast City Hall.
We provide Audio headsets so you can hear every word your guide says. The guide has a transmitter and microphone, the guests…
Born and raised in Belfast, BA (Hons) in Law and MsC (Dist.) . In the 1980s, I spent four years in an unpopular pop group in Manchester, recording with Martin Hannett of Joy Division and U2 fame! I returned home because I love the place and started the tours to explain the city to visitors. Along the way, I co wrote "The Little Book of Belfast" and organised a concert that President Clinton supported. If I cannot provide the tour, Sean or Steve will. Sean is a former actor who backpacked across the globe before returning home to run his own catering business. Steve runs his own design jewellery business. All the people who work with me are people who have lead lives and have stories to tell. Most importantly, they've got great senses of humour.
We start outside Belfast City Hall and take a quick look at the grounds and the outside of this fabulous building. After that we wander in and around the City Centre seeing iconic sights, St George's Church, The Albert Clock, the Entries, Jaffe Memorial Fountain, the Cathedral Quarter, Murals, Merchant Hotel, Assembly Rooms and First Presbyterian Church.
A family friendly, fun walking tour, looking at Belfast's hidden past, old and modern. The pace is gentle and we cover 1 mile. No charge for children under 12, just let me know.
