We'll visit up to five beaches, some favorites of locals, others rarely seen and quite out of the way, to hike the rocks, photograph anemones, beaches where waves crash through tunnels. Eucalyptus forests abound near the coast and you may see stark white cranes rest amidst shadowed ponds. Wintering butterfly colonies are here in Santa Cruz from November through January so we could stop by if the time is right. We'll climb down to the pinnacled beaches at Davenport or Panther Beach, search the tide pools at Bean Hollow, or some unnamed hidden beach gem, marvel at the jaw dropping views of remote beaches with extraordinary rock formations and vistas. If you prefer a tamer tour, we can visit other sights along the coast such as: the abelone farm, the Slow Coast shops, backroad country stores, The Redwood forests along mountain roads or the tiny town of Pescadero where children and gourmands will equally enjoy a visit to the local goat farm. Their award winning chevre surpassed even the goat cheese of France! The trip varies according to your own interests, but you'll take home great shots beyond the usual tourist fare and you'll experience the California Californians love.
For eight years, I worked as a travel photographer for a prestigious hotel publication. During that time, it was my job and my pleasure to seek out unique locations for travelers to enjoy and experience — places that take the breath away and challenge the senses. Over the years, it has been my passion to seek out exciting places off the beaten path. When I first moved to California, I dedicated a year to seeing every beach between San Francisco and Santa Cruz. I discovered spectacular beaches, unseen from the road and not listed on the maps. The tours focus on areas of extraordinary and unique beauty, perfect for photographers and all nature lovers, however, the stops we make along the way include off-the-beaten path shopping and culinary delights! Not a photographer but want to take home great shots? We'll take them for you!!
Organic strawberries, grown in Santa Cruz County, served with shortcake and a big dollop of whipped cream at a quaint stand!
Pacific Coast rock formations can vary from steep cliffs to water-warn craters better suited for the moon. We can visit Sharks Fin Cove, where water crashes through the tunnel with the tides, and search for rare sea glass in Davenport, prized in this area by locals who collect art glass as if it were gold. The rocky climb down to the beaches adds to the adventure! You'll love the small town of Pescadero, where culinary surprises await!
