We leave the city at 6:30am by private minivan for our 1.5-2 hr drive to the railway market in time to the train pass through, please be on time - it's worth getting up for! The vendors here sell their goods along an active railway track just a few inches from the edge. You’ll get to see what happens when the train arrives - it can be crowded with both visitors and locals but we'll know the best spots to view the train, and we'll take a look at the local produce sold along the tracks as well. This area is known for coconut sugar plantations, we'll introduce you to a local family who've been making this Thai staple ingredient for generations. We're sure you'll enjoy seeing a typical countryside home plantation and learning about the family's daily lives as well as how the sugar is traditionally made - of course you can have a taste too! Damnoen Saduak is the biggest, most famous & popular floating market. We'll take a small boat through narrow canals before reaching the market itself so you can see both the famous market and the local homes along the khlong on the way. We'll also enjoy a tasty treat from a boat vendor we pass through the market itself. Back on land there'll be some free time to grab a quick lunch (not included) or shop for souvenirs before we drive back to the city and drop you back at the starting point next to National Stadium BTS station.
Pam, Nai & Team
We - Pam, Pat, Nai, Mond & A - are the Bangkok Urban Adventures team. We're licensed local guides based in the old part of the city, but we love to get out of town and share the quieter countryside ways of life as well. A visit to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is one of the most popular day trips from Bangkok so it's often crowded, but we aim to give you the best of both worlds on our experiences - we'll show you to the big landmark sights such as this but also visit some hidden gems and help you to get under the skin of our city, local culture, history and traditions. We believe in responsible tourism.
