Ignite your own creative spark at a 2 hour Glass Fusing Master-Class with Chelsea Rousso. Choose from a wide range of glass to make a fused and slumped glass which will be yours to take home after firing. Art will be available for the student to pick up in 1-2 days. Instruction, supplies including superior glass from Bullseye Glass Co, use of tools, and firings all included. 1. First Fusing The Introduction to fusing and slumping in a workshop where the student learns to cut, layout, and prepare a 8” x 8” plate that can be fully fused and slumped. Participants will be provided fundamentals- intro to basic glass cutting and use of cutting tools, characteristics of glass, different glass options including glass sheets, frit, and stringers. 2. Sea and Sand Using inspiration from the ocean and beach, the class will allow you to tap into the beauty of the sea and shore. The class is geared toward beginning fusers or creatives that want to make a fabulous piece of art. Whether abstract or representational, the final glass panel that is 12” x 4” will allow the maker to unleash their creativity.
I am a glass artist, fashion designer and writer, as well as a professor of fashion design. For over 10 years I have specialized in kiln-formed glass and hold regular classes and workshops for aspiring glass artists. I combine my love of fashion and glass into a unique form of wearable glass including corsets, bandeaus, and swimwear which have appeared on catwalks at the: Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC Centre Des Sciences de Montreal, Canada The Glass Art Society’s Conference shows in Corning, NY and Toledo, OH Sinaca Studio in Fort Worth, TX WMODA in Dania Beach, FL I was selected to present my glass sculptures at 59th and 62nd All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. I was awarded Best In Show at the LighthouseArtCenter in Tequesta, FL.
In the fully equipped studio for fused and kiln-formed glass, novices and artists are invited to unleash their creativity. Each person will learn to cut glass, experiment with color and layout, and assemble the pieces into a plate or art panel. Once the piece has been made, the work will be fired onsite in a state of the art kiln.
