Do you know the story of the Blue Lagoon which once lay to Melbourne's west? Or where the phrase 'Buckley's chance' comes from? Do you know the fate of Tunnerminnerwait and Maulboyheenner? Or what it was like to arrive on a boat at the height of the gold rush? Do you know what Ned Kelly's last words actually were? (Hint: not ‘Such is Life’.) Or the real hero of the Burke & Wills story? Did you know that Melbourne was once the richest city in the world? We'll explore all these incredible tales - and more - on our City of Gold tour. You'll journey through Melbourne's laneways, past heritage buildings and significant landmarks, and have a fantastic time doing it! We’ll even grab a famous Melbourne coffee along the way. This is not just history. This is history brought to life!
Coffee, tea or soft drink will be served along the way.
I am a historian and writer who was born and raised in Melbourne. I also wrote and performed comedy for many years, so I like to entertain as well as inform. I am passionate about my town - its fascinating history and its diverse people. In fact, I love Melbourne so much I'm currently writing a historical novel about it! I want to share some of the fascinating tales I've discovered about this great city.

This will be an outdoor walking tour, so be comfortable and warm (or wear sunscreen if it's sunny). If the weather is truly against us, there is a Plan B where we stop by pubs and indoor spaces.
