Simple food. Urban Living. Life changing experience. You will share time and space with an internationally known champion of organic farming. Maurice will share insight into how you can grow your own food. You will tour Maurice's urban Atlanta family homestead and learn how a significant amount food can be cultivated with the help of creating your own soil, raising worms, catching water, using permaculture concepts and supporting native pollinators. This inspirational time together will energize you to begin or to continue investing in growing food at your own home, place of worship, school or in the general community. Come with questions and leave with valuable information and ideas for your own local food system. You will leave inspired with great information on how to begin (or continue) on your food growing journey! You can check out more of Maurice's work on Instagram @MauriceSmall
It is my passionate belief that growing local food and training others to do so can unite and inspire each one of us. In turn, we can nurture our families and build resilient communities. For 20 years, I have trained hundreds of young farmers and built thousands of gardens and farms across the United States. I am a trained permaculturalist and a self-taught local food revolutionary. I have created hundreds of composting systems, raised millions of worms and fed countless people and their communities. I look forward to sharing my knowledge with you in this engaging hands-on workshop.
I will welcome guests here at my Atlanta homestead, a .5 acre space where we grow a significant amount of food for our family and community. Our homestead is nestled in a residential community of East Atlanta.
