You will produce at least one, but most likely three sterling silver stacking rings to wear home. During this experience you'll learn about the tools and equipment and then how to size, form, saw, solder, shape, hammer (texturize) and polish sterling silver using tools such as a caliper, jewelers saw, files, multiple hammers, a butane torch and a flex shaft among others. First, we measure your finger and determine the length of sterling silver wire we'll need to use. You'll then saw the wire, form and prepare it for soldering, seal the joint with a torch, shape it into a perfect fitting ring with a hammer and mandrel and file and polish until it's ready to wear. We will do this as many times as possible and in brass as well - time permitting. I will teach you how to use and care for the tools and materials as well as the various possibilities with your new skills and how you can set up your very own jewelry studio after falling in love with your new skill set.
I've been making jewelry out of silver and brass for the last 10 years after completing several years of metalsmithing classes at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. I've been selling my jewelry on Etsy as well as a few boutiques in Los Angeles since I moved here in 2013. I've recently begun teaching the art of jewelry making out of my home studio with great success and adore doing it. I also have experience in wax mold making and beaded jewelry fabrication and would be happy to tailor the Airbnb experience to your specific taste if we talk/plan ahead of time. If you would like to book, but don't see an available time that fits your schedule please send me a message to see if we can figure one out. Thanks!

All equipment and materials will be provided during class.
You will visit my home studio which includes all of the aforementioned tools and equipment and my darling chihuahua, Dinky. I also love music and if given enough advance notice can create a playlist tailored to your preferences as background while we work (and dance).
Safety first, so please remember closed toe shoes and something to tie your (if long) hair back. All materials and equipment will be provided otherwise. Also, a small dog does live here in case you have allergies.
