A short Introduction will be given describing the history of cottage point ,the smallest suburb in Australia and how this tiny suburb evolved with a mere 53 houses in the middle of a national park overlooking the spectacular water way.This will cover some of he history of the aboriginal people who lived here, the flora and fauna ,the history of the hidden caves that harboured secret naval training, caves in which soldiers hid and all manner of surprising facts. All students will make between 1-5 pairs of earrings depending on the complexity students choose as they are guided through several design projects.Participants will be given a selection of beads ranging from plastic, glass, crystal and semi precious stones depending on individuals colour preferences. Tools to complete tasks will be supplied and the class will be instructed on earring designs, colour ways, basic techniques and places to source beads and findings from around the globe.
I have been making, designing and teaching jewellery making for over 15 years and have taught in the Uk, Asia and Australia. My classes are intimate , concentrating on using a wide selection of beads that any novice can master turning them into personal creations. My class is suitable for those that have never made any jewellery before but want to learn the basics., or those with some knowledge of jewellery design.The teaching gallery is set in the smallest suburb of Australia ,in the middle of a national park over looking the water, it’s the perfect spot to experience art and nature together.
