I have 2 experiences one is mug /cup making using a slab and this is the pottery experience, you can do either of these on the day, You can choose to decorate one of my medium sized ,hand thrown / bisc fired terracotta jars with loveheart tag, using underglaze colours , and coloured glazes ( perfect if you dont like to get too messy ) or make and paint a fairy door from scratch using terracotta clay in a press mold , this is a great way to personalise your door as a gift ,you will hand model leaves , flowers/small creatures , acorns, whatever u can think of ! as you will be using real clay and coloring it at the "leather hard " stage .I ll explaine how all the tools work and get you to choose either a fired pot to paint or a fairy door mold. I will go through the process with you ,show you your color options , get you started and put the kettle on for tea or coffee. Once youve finished I will need to dry and fire /glaze the work which can be picked up 5 to 10 days approximately or posted to you for five pounds extra . Aprons , tea and coffee provided .Suitable for families , beginners or some experience .
Im a local artist and have been teaching pottery for 15 years . My work is focused on color and textures in the form of shallow bowls designed to help bees get safe clean water to drink, without the risk of drowning as they can do in bird baths and swimming pools. I have a wheel and like to use what are called "press molds " this is where you press the clay into various mold shapes to easily form pottery pieces . I often use a mixture of techniques to make my pieces .
Various pottery tools , aprons etc
Workshops take place in my shop which is literally 2 mins from the beach and local beach cafe s , a short 20 mins walk from me to hengistbury head and christchurch .
Dont worry if you cant think of a decoration for your pot i have lots of pics and ideas books to inspire you .
