Go behind the scenes of Pinaki Studios in Hove. You will get a private tour of the studio by Arantza herself and explore the archive and workshop. You will be able to learn and see how textiles for feature films and major television series are created in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You will also get hands-on by creating your own silkscreens from a selection of patterns and printing your own fabric, or you can choose from a selection of finished pieces to take home. Before you leave we will celebrate your visit with some nibbles and a glass of prosecco.
I am a textile designer and artist who established Pinaki Studios, a project-based textile studio, more than a decade ago. I create textiles that dress stories in feature films (Mary Queen of Scots, Phantom of the Opera) and major television series (Game of Thrones, The White Princess, Musketeers), interiors, food design, fashion, galleries and museums.
Hot and cold drinks, light snacks, Prosecco to celebrate at the end.
Silk screen equipment and artwork, fabric or selection of finished products to print on. Aprons and gloves.
We will conduct our workshop in the semi industrial unit where is located. I will show you the equipment we use to develop our fabrics and projects and explore the textile archive and some of the sample books that I have developed over the years. The unit is also home of another small business and my colleague may be around on the day to assist running the experience.
Our experience will take place in a workshop set up so you may want to consider not to wear precious clothing or uncomfortable shoes. We will provide aprons and gloves to protect your clothes & hands.
