Crank up the heat in this exploration of the chile pepper in its many forms. Start by taking in the array of colors and flavors of the Jamaica Market where you’ll meet Fernando, your host. After, you’ll visit his store that specializes in dried chiles and learn hands-on how to make yummy traditional salsa. Then—quick!—taste a mole made with a chile that is in danger of extinction. Finish with a surprising, spicy dessert and a taste of mezcal. Don't worry: You decide the spiciness level every moment!
I'm the grandson of one of the main chile traders in Mexico City. I created the first gastronomic workshop in Mexico focused on the chile pepper. The workshop has been featured on CNN, Munchies, France 5, México Desconocido, and Gourmet de México. My family owns La Flor de Jamaica, a business specializing in the dried chile trade. It was founded by my grandfather in 1960 and is one of the main stores in the Market de Jamaica.

This experience takes place at the Market of Jamaica, one of the biggest and most beautiful markets in Mexico City. My store, La Flor de Jamaica, works to promote traditional Mexican ingredients.
