Take your tastebuds on a journey through Mexico's most renowned artisanal spirit: Mezcal! Hosted by one of Mexico's all-star craft cocktail experts, the experience begins with a guided tasting of 4 artisanal Mezcals from different regions of the country. The tasting is paired with delicious local fruit, citrus, and artisanal salts (the grasshopper salt is optional :) Following the tasting, your host will teach you the basics of mixology, including some useful principles of making agave-based cocktails. Then, you'll get hands on and creative with the ingredients, making your own mezcal cocktail following a suggested recipe.
Meet your host Sam: a 20-year veteran of the food & beverage industry, expert crafter of cocktails, and connoisseur of Mexico's agave-based spirits—from mezcal to...gin! That's right, he represented the first company to produce a gin from agave using 32 botanicals from every state in the country. Although Sam was born in Mexico City, he lived in New York for two decades before moving to Tulum. Now, in addition to leading tastings and teaching mixology classes, he's a sought-after guest bartender at some of the best bars in the Riviera Maya. Sam’s co-host, Ben, is a cocktail enthusiast and social alchemist dedicated to creating unique experiences that build connections between people and places.

The Experience takes place at a local restaurant in Tulum Pueblo called Bonita Tulum Burger Bar. We find guests often make new friends during the experience and decide to stay after for some food or additional drinks.
