This experience starts with guests learning basic information about our herd of llamas before walking into the pasture and being able to get close, pet, feed, and take pictures with the llamas. After 45 minutes with the llamas we'll go inside and get set up to spend the next 2+ hours weaving. Guests can choose which loom they want to weave on; and which yarns they want to weave with. 15-20 minutes is spent introducing basic vocabulary and practicing basic weaving skills. An hour and a half is spent producing a hand woven item to take home. A 15 minute break each hour is spent outside with the llamas.
Looms and yarn
I have had the privilege to own and care for llamas since 2004 and have been weaving even longer. I love being able to introduce people to our llamas as much as I love giving people the opportunity to weave on professional looms. My living room houses 14 different looms all warped and ready for novices - or experienced weavers - to produce a hand woven item. I love watching the change in visitors as they discover just how amazing llamas are and as they discover how magical hand weaving is.
The llama portion of this experience takes place on our 5 acre llama farm. The weaving portion takes place in my home.
