You'll arrive at our new mountain modern home nestled in the foothills of the Cascade mountains at the edge of the National Forest. You'll get fitted for snowshoes and poles, then we'll teach you the techniques for walking over deep snow. Scenic trails depart from our property and you'll survey a tranquil winter wonderland. We will talk about the ecology of the forest while tracking prolific animal prints in the snow, teaching you to identify small mammals, and big carnivores (we frequently see signs of cougar, bobcat, elk and coyote). Through our network of tails we will customize your trip based on your fitness level but most trips journey up teepee hill where we sip hot broth and enjoy the views of the Wenatchee River and snow-laden mountains. Our family maintains several trail cameras along our route, so we'll stop and check the recent footage. There's something new every week! Your trip concludes back at our property with an outdoor bonfire or a cozy gathering around our wood stove (depending on the time of year and conditions) where we will share hot cocoa and cider and make gooey s'mores.
I'm a travel and outdoors writer and photographer with a passion for the natural world. I have guided small group tours around the world and I live full-time in the mountains, so snowshoeing, skiing, hiking and wildlife watching are right outside my door. Our family has been running trail cameras in the area for years and we're eager to share our experiences and natural beauty with you.

While no experience is required, snowshoeing requires a basic physical fitness. Walking 1 mile in snowshoes is equivalent to 3 miles on a summer trail. Expect terrain to be uneven with some hills.
