No visit to Lisboa is complete without a Fado experience. FADO @ Alfama is the ultimate event to live and feel Portuguese Lisboa's traditional music. Starting at 5PM on Friday’s and Tuesday's. It will begin with a short visit of the beautiful Alfama neighborhood, where our Fado experience takes place. You’ll hear about some of our traditions and culture and a brief introduction to the history of Fado, to set the context for our evening. The FADO @ Alfama takes place on an exclusive venue: it's a personal full experience only for the guests who book it, not joining a Fado Restaurant with others. This will be followed by a 40-minute tribute concert to Amalia Rodrigues, Portugal’s most famous and well-loved Fado singer. I will add some commentary during the concert to explain the essence and meaning of Amalia’s Fado and why it is such a huge part of the Portuguese soul and culture. Since it is afternoon you may have walked a lot in our hilly city already, so we'll serve a snack of traditional petiscos. There's no Fado without some wine and olives too. But don't worry - I'm not singing :) A highly talented Fado singer and musicians are performing for you!
I am a Fado lover who has lived all my life in the beautiful Lisboa. I have been to lots of Fado venues over the years, meeting many incredible singers & musicians. I am passionate about my city and its Fado. I have created this experience to share my knowledge of traditional Portuguese music and give my guests a truly authentic evening you will never forget. In April 2018 I created the #1 rated walk in Lisboa and since then have met many guests from around the world. The most common thing I'm asked is where guests can see traditional Fado, and this has been my inspiration to create this project
A light traditional snack (petisco) is included.
Wine or soft drinks.
We are in Alfama, the ancient and traditional neighborhood. Plus we’ll have the Fado concert on an exclusive venue. Please notice we’re now doing it indoors! Alfama’s noise is part of the neighborhood but it was starting to be a little to much :) Specially the church bells ringing randomly for half an hour :)
I'll text everyone on the eve of your date for details and inquiring about Vegans and Vegetarians.
