Turn your photographs into stunning works of art by applying gold leaf. Working with photographs from your phone or digital camera we will upload them to my computer, open them in Adobe Lightroom, convert them to black and white, crop them into squares, adjust the contrast and boost the detail; then we will print them on transparent vellum. In the next step we will apply a special adhesive to the back of the vellum and attach the gold leaf. When they are dry we will seal the metal and treat the vellum with a special fixer, at this point you will have some amazing art. Your work will be suitable for gifts or for display. Each guest will complete 2 unique images. I have matting supplies available for a small additional fee if you like. Prior to the experience you can send me two to four images images that you might want to use in the workshop, you will want something that translates well into black and white, something with nice detail, and rich blacks. Landscapes, architecture, and nature work well, pets and family photos also work. Whatever you choose we will perform the final adjustments in the studio.
I am professional photographer/artist who enjoys portraiture, still life, and landscape photography. I create traditional photography as well as dabble in alternative processes like gold leaf, cyanotypes, and photography on fabric. I like to incorporate photography into quilting, clothing making, and art installations. My work has been exhibited nationally and is in museum collections in Oregon and California.
I will provide light snacks to keep us nourished, tea, and water.
We will meet at my photography studio, inside a large artist studio enclave, we will have access to a few computers, a professional printer, gold and silver, and copper leaf materials.
