Come join me at my artist’s studio in an undiscovered, fascinating and atmospheric part of Berlin. Over coffee, I’ll tell you all about the lost art of cyanotypes, filling you in on the background to this beautiful and historic photographic technique. Working with non-toxic chemicals, I’ll guide you through a workshop that will result in striking cyan blue prints. We’ll experiment with objects to create abstract compositions, work with images of Berlin’s most famous sights - you can even make cyanotypes from your own photographs. The moment the blue images appear on paper is truly magical. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have tried your hand at this fascinating artform, and have ten of your own cyanotype prints to take away.
I am an artist working with experimental photography. In 2010, I rediscovered the forgotten cyanotype technique and was immediately hooked. I love its experimental character, versatility and using the solution to paint with. I give cyanotype workshops and courses in schools, pre-schools and universities - and I look forward to sharing this wonderful technique with you.
Hot and cold drinks and a few snacks (fruit, nuts).
Workshop materials including cyanotype solution, paper, objects, images, etc.
We’ll meet in my big, bright studio with a beautiful view of the River Spree. Located in Schöneweide, it’s part of a heritage-protected industrial complex. These days, while the imposing late nineteenth century architecture remains the same, the area is home to many artists and cultural projects.
You can reach my studio in 45 minutes from central Berlin. First you take an S-bahn to Schöneweide, then a tram 2 stops, then walk for 5 minutes. Details on booking!
