Immerse yourself in the colorful, passionate world of tango! I want you to live it, not just see it. As an artist deeply inspired by tango (in my music, writing and photography), I love sharing this world with those who come to visit our city. We will begin with a fun, relaxed one-hour tango lesson. Over the years, working with many students, I have developed a method that connects you in an organic way to the essence of tango. This approach is guaranteed to work – even for people with two-left feet! I love to show people how tango is much more than a dance. It’s about improvisation, balance and connection – all skills that will transform your life. (As you can see, I'm completely hooked.) Following the class, we will walk or take the subway to the milonga (tango dance hall) where you will witness the world of those who live only to dance tango, not some made-for-tourists tango show. You will see why many people who dabble in tango soon find they can never leave! (You've been warned!)
I moved to Buenos Aires from California 25 years ago, following the perfume of tango. From the day I set foot here, tango and Buenos Aires became the source of my artistic inspiration. I learned the dance. I became a columnist at a local paper, writing about life in Buenos Aires (which became a book, “A Tango Before I Die) and I started a band, the Blue Tango Project with a certified tango diva. We spend much of the year on tour but when we are in Buenos Aires, we love to share our passion for this city and its culture with visitors. We will begin with a tango lesson at a dance studio. From there we will walk or take the bus/subway to the milonga (tango dance hall) where you will see the people who live only to dance tango. This is the real thing: not some made-for-tourists show. But beware: tango can be addictive!
We will be walking between venues, so comfortable shoes are recommended. If rain is expected, dress accordingly. (Getting drenched in a Buenos Aires downpour is not something you'll soon forget!)
