We offer bourbon themed historic boat tours of the Kentucky River. You will need to meet us at the Buffalo Trace Distillery Gift Shop, where you will meet one of our friendly guest experience coordinators. They will drive you to one of our docks, where you will board the "Trace of Kentucky". Your tour will begin as you are motored up and down the beautiful Kentucky River. Your Captain and guide will point out some of Frankfort's most famous landmarks, as well as educated and entertain you on how Kentucky's Most Famous Spirit came to be because of this most historic river. Sites seen will be Frankfort's Riverfront and new beginning, Daniel Boone's Grave, the joining site of the Three Original Counties, Frank's Ford, Leestown, Buffalo Trace Distillery from the water, including the Great Buffalo Trace and the hemp fields and mill, Benson Creek, Frankfort Boat Club, Melodye Park and more! Your trip ends back at the dock, where you will be transported back to Buffalo Trace Distillery, where you can either arrange a distillery tour and tasting (we highly recommend this, and it must be arranged through Buffalo Trace) or move your way on down the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. PLEASE NOTE we do not offer Bourbon Tastings on board our tour. We recommend a tasting as part of a tour at Buffalo Trace Distillery.
I am a USCG Licensed Boat Captain and tour guide. I have been providing guided experiences on the Kentucky River for over 18 years. Our company has been listed as Frankfort's #1 Outdoor Activity for many of those years. Our bourbon tour experience is a little more limited, offering these tours for only 15 years! Our company has the most professional, people pleasing, humorous, knowledgeable, safety oriented, outdoor individuals you will ever meet! Our AirB&B trips all run with myself as your captain.
Guests are welcome to bring lunch along with them. Special catering options are available upon request.
Soft drinks and water will be provided. Other drinks are welcome to be brought along.
You will visit Buffalo Trace Distillery, and all other sites will be viewed from the river, from the convenient deck of our fully custom built and comfortable 27 foot boat.
This is an outdoor experience, and we work at the mercy of mother nature. We can operate in a light rain, but heavy rains, winds and/or flooding conditions will result in postponement or cancellation.
