We will meet downtown at the Vance Monument and walk and talk for two hours while we leisurely discuss the vibrant and dynamic history of this most entertaining small cities. Asheville Is known at the biggest village in the world. We will discuss the native use of the site for 4000 years before the white man settled in, and how the difficulties of the location made the first 100 years a struggle. We will see how the coming of the Railroad, Electricity, and the Vanderbilt family help this tiny mountain escape become the fastest growing city in the world from 1880-1929.
